Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is seeking a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer to lead design packages for demolition, heavy propping, façade retention, and deep excavations in London and the South East. You will act as technical lead, performing checks and mentoring junior engineers.

You will ensure buildability and compliance with BS 5975, CDM regulations, and Eurocodes while collaborating with TWCs, project managers, and site teams to deliver major schemes safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering (Chartered/Incorporated preferred).
• Proven experience in temporary works design and checking with a specialist contractor or consultancy.
• Strong expertise in BS 5975, CDM, structural analysis, and geotechnical behavior.
• Proficient in structural analysis software and CAD/BIM tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept-to-detail temporary works designs (calculations, drawings, specs) and perform independent Cat 2/3 design checks.
• Cover demolition stability, façade retention, heavy propping, needling, excavation supports, piling platforms, and falsework.
• Ensure full adherence to BS 5975, CDM regulations, Eurocodes, and company safety standards.
• Work closely with TWCs, project managers, site teams, and permanent works designers to ensure buildability.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct technical site audits to resolve site-specific design issues.

We are seeking a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer to join a premier specialist contractor delivering major schemes across London and the South East. You will act as the technical lead, managing design packages for complex demolition, heavy propping, façade retention, and deep excavations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Check: Lead concept-to-detail temporary works designs (calculations, drawings, specs) and perform independent Cat 2/3 design checks.
