Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Senior Technologist to join the Technical Team in Clydach, Swansea on a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover. The role supports refinery operations, process improvement initiatives and technical projects in a safety-driven engineering environment, working with production, engineering and technical colleagues.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in technical/manufacturing/chemical processing environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience interpreting operational data and making recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise to refinery operations and plant leadership.
• Analyse plant performance data and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional improvement projects.
• Develop practical technical solutions from operational data and industry experience.
• Support process safety activities including MOC, HAZOP, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet refinery requirements.
• Share knowledge and best practices across the organisation.
• Provide emergency response support and participate in site emergency preparedness.
• Monitor key process parameters and recommend corrective actions.
