Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd. is recruiting a Senior Technologist for the Mond Nickel Refinery site in Clydach, Swansea, on a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover.

The role integrates with production, engineering and technical colleagues to support refinery operations and drive process improvements. Qualifications

• Degree qualified in STEM; minimum 5 years in technical/manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret operational data and make recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Desirable: degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• Desirable: Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
• Desirable: Chartered status or working towards chartership.
• Desirable: experience in process manufacturing, refining or metallurgical environments.
• Knowledge of process safety systems including HAZOP, risk assessment and MOC.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise to refinery operations and leadership teams.
• Analyze plant performance data and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and productivity.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional improvement projects that benefit the refinery.
• Develop practical technical solutions based on data, analysis and experience.
• Support process safety activities including MOC, HAZOP and risk assessments.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure refinery requirements are met.
• Share technical knowledge and best practices across the organisation and industry networks.
• Provide emergency response support and participate in site emergency preparedness.
• Monitor key process parameters and recommend corrective actions.
