Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking a Senior Technical Surveyor - Home Adaptations to lead complex home modification projects across Somerset. You will work with clients, health professionals, housing providers, and contractors to deliver adaptations that promote independence and safety in the home.

Responsibilities include managing budgets, risk, and timelines, acting as Principal Designer, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Qualifications

Experience as Building Surveyor or Architect.
Experience undertaking feasibility studies and managing construction projects.
Knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, and Disabled Facilities Grants.
Proficiency in AutoCAD for architectural drawings and technical schematics.

Responsibilities

Manage and deliver a range of home adaptation construction projects from feasibility through to completion.
Act as Principal Designer, ensuring CDM compliance and health and safety legislation.
Work directly with clients with a wide range of disabilities, building trust and understanding individual needs.
Assess eligibility, practicality, and funding options for housing adaptations and financial assistance.
Prepare drawings, specifications, and schedules of work using AutoCAD.
Obtain, assess, and manage quotations, tenders, budgets, and contractor performance.
Monitor project progress, quality, and costs through site inspections and reporting.
Provide professional guidance, mentoring, and support to technical officers and caseworkers.
