Job summary

PRS is seeking a Senior Technical Manager to act as the technical authority across a portfolio of mission-critical facilities, including data centres and other high-availability environments. This hybrid London/South East role focuses on engineering governance and ensuring uptime through expert management of electrical and building services.

You will lead engineering standards, support major maintenance, audits and critical projects while mentoring teams and coordinating with senior client

I'm partnering with one of Europe's leading Critical Engineering and Facilities Management organisations to recruit a Senior Technical Manager as part of the continued expansion of their Mission Critical division.


With an exceptional reputation for delivering engineering excellence across some of Europe's most demanding operational environments, the business manages extensive portfolios spanning Data Centres, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Global Banking, Financial Services and other business‑critical infrastructure where resilience, compliance and uptime are non‑negotiable.

The Role

Reporting into the Technical Director, you'll act as the senior technical authority across a portfolio of critical facilities, providing engineering governance, technical leadership and operational assurance across complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure.


You'll work alongside senior operational leaders to ensure engineering standards remain industry leading while supporting major maintenance activities, critical projects, technical audits and business continuity across high‑availability environments.


This is a strategic leadership position with significant influence across both client operations and engineering delivery.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide technical leadership across multiple mission‑critical facilities and engineering teams.

  • Act as the technical authority for electrical infrastructure, Safe Systems of Work, Authorised Person activities and engineering governance.

  • Hold High Voltage Authorised Person (HVAP) status and provide technical oversight of switching programmes, isolation procedures and operational risk.

  • Review and approve SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, RAMS and critical engineering documentation.

  • Lead technical investigations, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and incident reviews, implementing long‑term corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory legislation, industry standards and internal engineering governance.

  • Support major shutdowns, lifecycle programmes and business‑critical projects.

  • Mentor engineering managers and technical teams, developing competence and succession planning.

  • Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, acting as the lead technical representative.

  • Drive continuous improvement, operational resilience and engineering best practice across the portfolio.


About You

You'll be an experienced technical leader who has built your career within highly regulated, high‑availability environments where engineering excellence and operational resilience are critical.


You'll ideally have experience within one or more of the following:



  • Mission Critical Facilities

  • Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

  • Financial Services / Merchant Banking

  • Power Generation

  • Defence

  • Nuclear

  • Utilities

  • Heavy Industrial Engineering


You’ll also possess:


  • Strong electrical engineering background supported by a solid understanding of mechanical and building services systems.

  • Current or recently held - High Voltage Authorised Person (HVAP) status (essential).

  • Extensive experience leading engineering teams within critical environments.

  • Strong understanding of engineering compliance, permits, technical governance and risk management.

  • Experience reviewing and approving SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, switching schedules and RAMS.

  • Excellent client‑facing and stakeholder management skills.

  • A proactive approach to engineering leadership, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

  • Senior Authorised Person experience or the capability to progress into SAP status.
