Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is hiring an Associate Director or Technical Director in Freshwater Ecology to lead a skilled team in delivering impactful ecological projects. You will design and conduct freshwater ecology surveys, author technical reports, and manage a talented team of ecologists within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive professional experience in consultancy, regulatory bodies, or industry settings.
• Advanced technical expertise in freshwater ecology, including protected species and habitat assessment.
• Proven ability to deliver scientifically rigorous reports for WFD assessments, EIAs, and Environmental Statements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide the design of freshwater and aquatic ecology baseline survey programmes.
• Author high-quality technical reports and manage ecological teams.
• Support wider aquatic team management including health & safety and training.

Skills

Extensive professional experience in consultancy

Advanced technical expertise in freshwater ecology

Strong understanding of UK water and ecology legislation

Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams
