Job summary

WSP's Building Structures team is seeking a Technical Director to provide senior leadership in delivering structural engineering services for major energy infrastructure projects. You will lead project teams, manage client relationships, and drive technical excellence and innovation.

The role covers substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations, with a focus on complex design and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• CEng with a relevant professional body and chartered status.
• Extensive structural engineering design and project leadership experience.
• Experience in substations, transmission and distribution, OHL, power stations or petrochemical facilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing skills.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure.
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing and risk management.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, T&D facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships as trusted advisor.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians.
• Contribute to bids, proposals and client presentations.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams for integrated, sustainable design.
• Support best practices, innovation and continuous improvement.
