Job summary

Herts Design and Creative Services invites applications for Senior Technical Authors to support a major UK Defence client. The role offers 90–95% remote work with occasional visits to Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

You will develop, maintain and update complex technical documentation in line with S1000D standards, collaborating with engineers, illustrators and publishers to ensure accuracy and compliance. Ideal candidates have a background in mechanical or electrical engineering, hands-on experience

Qualifications

• Experience as Technical Author in Defence/Aerospace environments.
• Familiarity with S1000D technical publications.
• Knowledge of S3000L information exchange process.
• Experience with Arbortext Editor and FrameMaker.
• UK SC security clearance or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Develop, author, review and maintain technical publications to S1000D standards.
• Produce structured docs for mechanical and/or electrical systems and maintenance.
• Work within S3000L information exchange processes.
• Collaborate with engineers, illustrators, publishers and other stakeholders.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with contractual requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of authoring processes and standards.
