Job summary

PWHytek Ltd are recruiting a Technical Author on a permanent contract in Aberdeen with hybrid working. You will create and update technical documentation such as operating and maintenance manuals and engineering publications, working with engineering, production and drafting teams to ensure accuracy and clarity.

The role requires a technical writing qualification or equivalent experience, a mechanical and/or electrical engineering background, and proficiency with Word, FrameMaker and Acrobat.

Qualifications

• A technical writing qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Mechanical and/or electrical engineering background.
• Experience producing technical documentation in defence, marine or diving sectors.
• Strong document design and production skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe Acrobat.
• Knowledge of documentation standards such as S1000D, ASD-STE100 and Defence Standard 00-601.
• Experience with document management systems.

Responsibilities

The Role

You’ll be responsible for creating and updating technical documentation, including operating and maintenance manuals, books of reference and engineering publications. You’ll work closely with engineering, production and drafting teams to ensure documentation is accurate, clear and meets industry standards.

What We’re Looking For

• A technical writing qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• A mechanical and/or electrical engineering background.
