Job summary

AXA Ipswich is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant to support statutory reporting and technical accounting for the AXA UK Group. You will work with the Statutory Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager, handling UK GAAP and IFRS, and contributing to group reporting under IFRS.

You will provide independent checks on balance sheet reconciliations and help drive high-quality accounting practices across AXA UK entities.

Qualifications

Sound knowledge of IFRS, FRS 101, and FRS 102.
Clear understanding of independent financial audits and reconciliations.
Experience in financial services industry and insurance/reinsurance knowledge.
Ability to work independently, creatively, and under pressure.
Strong teaching and communication skills to explain technical accounting issues clearly.
Awareness of current issues affecting the financial services industry.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing statutory financial accounts for AXA UK entities in line with timetables.
Prepare technical accounting papers on key audit topics.
Investigate, interpret and implement appropriate accounting treatments for new issues with sign-off from AXA Group and external auditors.
Provide technical advice and training to AXA Finance teams and other areas.
Assist in delivering independent audits of balance sheet reconciliations across entities.
Ensure IFC scope processes have appropriate documentation.
Network with the business to understand complexities of a large matrixed organization.
Demonstrate understanding of accounting for insurance, reinsurance, and investments.
