Job summary

Shaftesbury Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced candidate to support learning for students with special needs under the direction of a teacher. You will help plan and prepare lessons, deliver learning activities for individuals or groups, and monitor pupils’ progress by assessing and reporting achievements.

Qualifications

• Diploma Level 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning or equivalent with relevant educational content (e.g., NVQ 3/degree).
• Level 1 or 2 in English, Maths and ICT or willingness to achieve.
• Qualified first aider and lifeguard (or willingness to achieve within 6 months).
• Moving & Handling certificate up to date.

Responsibilities

• Lead the coordination of a safe, purposeful learning environment and support teaching and learning in the classroom.
• Supervise groups of students, deliver learning activities, lead assemblies, and cover for the class in the teacher's absence.
• Plan weekly schedules by reviewing student planners, appointments, objectives, stall numbers, and parental comments.
