Job summary

St Simon’s Catholic Primary School in Hazel Grove is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support learning across year groups. You will work with class teachers and leaders to deliver high-quality lessons and targeted interventions, including PPA cover, to ensure continuous progress and inclusive practice.

The role requires HLTA status or a Level 4+ qualification (or a degree with classroom experience), and strong literacy/numeracy, with a commitment to the school’s Catholic

Qualifications

• HLTA status or Level 4+ qualification required.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills essential.
• Ability to manage classrooms effectively and adapt to pupil needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons and interventions across key stages under direction of teachers.
• Provide PPA cover and short-term classroom delivery during absences.
• Support pupils with diverse learning needs, including SEND, in an inclusive environment.
• Assess, track, and report pupil progress to support school standards.
• Model positive behaviour and support pupils’ spiritual and personal growth in line with school ethos.
