Job summary

Avalon School in Street, United Kingdom, is seeking a Senior Teaching Assistant to join a friendly, supportive team. The role is 32.5 hours per week across 39 weeks per year (term time plus INSET days) and requires flexibility, empathy and excellent communication skills.

We offer a rich CPD programme and are committed to developing all staff. Successful candidates will mentor new support staff, support the class teacher, prepare resources and contribute to high standards for all pupils.

Qualifications

• Experience is not essential but dedication, patience, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn is.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring for new support staff
• Provide a professional role model for other staff
• To support the admin roles of the class teacher in terms of:o Keeping pupil files up to date
• o Ensuring that resources are prepared and ready for learning
• To be the first point of call in their absence
• To teach groups under the direction of the class teacher
• To teach the whole class, short term in the absence of the class teacher
• To plan and prepare lessons for groups you are teaching
• To deliver training to other staff within the federation
