Job summary

Birch Wood School is seeking a Senior Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning under the direction of a teacher. You will assist with planning, delivery and evaluation of learning activities, support in whole classes, and work with individuals or small groups of pupils.

The role includes cover supervision, mentoring, and contributing to policy development. The successful candidate will have NVQ 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent, and Level 2 qualifications in

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
• Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracy and English/literacy or equivalent.
• Competency in literacy and numeracy to level 2.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, delivery and evaluation of whole class learning activities.
• Support in teaching for small groups or individual pupils and provide feedback on engagement and achievement.
• Help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe learning environment aligned with lesson plans.
• Promote pupil self-reliance, self-esteem and emotional resilience.
• Observe and report on pupil performance using assessment to improve learning.
