Job summary

Abacus Careers in Belfast is recruiting an Associate Director to lead complex transaction tax advisory engagements for large corporates, multinationals, and private equity-backed groups. You’ll drive M&A tax strategy, due diligence, and structuring while guiding senior stakeholders and specialist teams.

The role requires ACA/ACCA and/or CTA qualifications, with strong project management and business development skills to expand the practice footprint in Northern Ireland.

Abacus Careers is recruiting an Associate Director to join a well-established professional services organisation in Belfast. You’ll work with large corporates, multinational groups and private equity-backed businesses, gaining exposure to sophisticated UK and international transactions.

The Opportunity

You’ll take a leading role across complex transaction tax projects, working closely with senior stakeholders and specialist advisory teams while helping drive the continued growth of the practice.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead Transaction Tax Advisory engagements from start to finish
• Advise on M&A, due diligence, structuring and transaction support
• Manage key relationships with large corporate and multinational clients
• Oversee project delivery, budgets, WIP and recoverability
• Support proposals, pitches, networking and business development
• Lead, coach and develop Managers and junior team members
• Collaborate across tax, corporate finance, legal and wider advisory teams
• ACA/ACCA and/or CTA qualified
• Strong Transaction Tax Advisory experience, including due diligence and structuring
• Exposure to substantial corporate and/or cross-border transactions
• Strong commercial and project management skills
• Proven client relationship and business development experience
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
