ALTEN Ltd is recruiting a Systems Engineer to work on opto-electronic and sensor systems for critical defence platforms in the UK. You will contribute across the full systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements capture to integration and delivery, on real-time systems.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, willingness to obtain SC clearance, and hybrid on-site work in Glasgow/Edinburgh. Join ALTEN to shape tomorrow’s technology.”

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent military background.
• Experience in defence, aerospace or safety-critical environments.
• Hands-on experience with requirements engineering (elicitation, decomposition, traceability).
• Experience using DOORS or similar requirements management tools.
• Ability to work in a structured, process-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver systems engineering activities across the full V-model lifecycle.
• Capture and manage system requirements within DOORS with full traceability.
• Lead system integration across embedded software and sensor subsystems.
• Define system architectures, interfaces and functional behaviour.
• Contribute to integration and system-level test strategy.
• Participate in design reviews and risk-based decision making.
• Collaborate with software, hardware and systems engineering teams.
• Support through-life engineering, including defect management and configuration control.
