Job summary

ALTEN Ltd is recruiting a Systems Engineer in Glasgow to deliver next-generation opto-electronic and sensor systems for critical maritime and avionics defence platforms. You will work across the full systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements to integration, verification and delivery in a hybrid on-site role.

We require 5+ years in defence/aerospace environments, strong DOORS experience, and the ability to lead system integration with software and hardware teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical military background.
• Experience in defence, aerospace or safety-critical environments.
• Hands-on experience with requirements engineering (elicitation, decomposition, traceability).
• Experience using DOORS or similar requirements management tools.
• Strong understanding of system interfaces, boundaries and integration challenges.
• Experience supporting integration, verification and validation of complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver systems engineering across the full V-model lifecycle.
• Capture and manage system requirements with DOORS.
• Lead system integration across embedded software and sensor subsystems.
• Define system architectures, interfaces and behavior.
• Contribute to integration and system-level test strategy.
• Participate in design reviews and risk-based decisions.
• Collaborate with software, hardware and systems engineering teams.
• Support through-life engineering, including defect management.
