Job summary

SubSea Craft Limited, a UK-based maritime technology company, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead development and integration of complex defence systems across the full engineering lifecycle.

You will work with SMEs to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements, maintain traceability, and ensure compliance with maritime standards while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in engineering with a focus on the maritime defence sector.
  • Experience with regulatory requirements and industry standards for marine systems; Lloyds Register or DNV-GL knowledge is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of the Systems Modeling Language (SysML).

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyse and manage stakeholder needs and craft verifiable system requirements with quality attributes.
  • Decompose user requirements with SMEs into system and design requirements.
  • Maintain traceability between user requirements, system design and testing throughout V-Model lifecycle.
  • Develop system context, use cases, architectures and interfaces aligning with maritime defence needs.
  • Define verification plans, test strategies and test cases for integrated system elements.
  • Facilitate cross-disciplinary communication across engineering teams to ensure coherent solutions.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies including FMEA and FTA.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime defence standards and regulations.
  • Mentor junior team members to support career development.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead in the development and integration of complex maritime defence systems throughout the full engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities Will Include
  • Elicit,analyseand manage stakeholder needsandcraft verifiable system requirements with quality attributes and acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely withsubject matterexperts (SMEs)to decomposeuser requirements intosystem anddesign requirements.
  • Establishandmaintaintraceability betweenuserrequirements, systemdesignand testing to ensure alignment throughout thefullVerification andValidationlifecycle.
  • Developsystemcontext, use cases, functional,physicalandlogical architecturesand interface controldocumentsthat align with maritime defence requirements.
  • Define Verification plans, teststrategiesand test cases.Ensure system elements developed across different engineeringdisciplines are effectively integrated into a coherent system solution.
  • Facilitate communication andsharedunderstandingacrossmultidisciplinary engineering teamsby applyinglifecycle frameworkssuch as the V-Model.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring the reliability and resilience of deployed systems. Specifically, FMEA and FTA.
  • Ensure that developed systems comply with relevant maritime defence standards and regulations.
  • Provide Mentoring to Junior members of the team to support career development.
Qualifications And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in engineering with a focus on the maritime defence sector.
  • Experience with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards for marine systems and equipment. In particular, experience designing for class approval against Lloyds Register or DNV-GL is beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime defence technologies.
  • Proven experience throughout the design, development, and testing stages of maritime platforms.
  • A working knowledge of theSystems Modelling Language (SysML)
