Job summary

SubSea Craft, based in the UK, seeks a production-focused practitioner to join our marine manufacturing team in Portsmouth. You will participate in design-for-manufacture reviews, support prototype and pre-production assembly, and drive continuous improvement across production layouts and processes.

The role requires hands-on production experience in high value, low volume environments, a engineering degree, and experience productionising new technologies. BPSS/compliance may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in high value, low volume production environments.
  • Degree qualified within engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience producing new technologies/products for production.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in design reviews for design-for-manufacture input.
  • Assist with prototype and pre-production assembly work.
  • Specify and source production equipment, tooling, jigs and fixtures; lead continuous improvement.
  • Create and manage production layout plans to support efficient manufacturing.
  • Develop and support production quality and business processes; ensure adherence to international standards.
  • Support production with day-to-day query resolution.
  • Provide input for ECO process.
  • Create and champion SOPs for marine manufacturing.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Participate in design reviews to provide design-for-manufacture input
  • Assist with prototype and pre-production assembly work
  • Specify and source production equipment, tooling, jigs and fixtures Lead and support continuous improvement activities in production
  • Create and manage production layout plans to support efficient manufacturing
  • Develop and support quality and business processes related to manufacturingEnsure full adherence to internationally recognised quality standards for manufacturing, particularly within the marine industry
  • Support production with day-to-day query resolution
  • Provide input for engineering change management (ECO) process
  • Create and champion standard operating procedures and work instructions for all aspects of marine manufacturing
Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
  • Experience of working within a high value, low volume production environment Desirable: Experience with MRP/ERP systems Use of agile toolsets
  • Recognised Project Management experience or qualification
  • Degree qualified within engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience of productionising new technologies and new products
  • Production experience with composite structures or electro-mechanical assembly

Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.*
