They are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to play a key role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of their Enterprise Platform. This role is critical in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of their corporate application hosting environments.

This role is focused on Microsoft Enterprise environments, automation using PowerShell, and strong SQL Server skills. Automation skills are a primary focus, and candidates should have extensive experience in scripting and infrastructure automation.

Cloud experience is not essential, as the organisation has dedicated subject matter experts who provide training on cloud technologies. You will also gain exposure and training to various modern cloud and automation technologies as part of your role.

Additionally, you will have access to a significant amount of project work, providing opportunities to work on innovative and complex enterprise platform solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Microsoft Enterprise Environments: Serve as an SME in Windows Server and SQL Server, ensuring the stability and security of enterprise-level infrastructure.
• Automation with PowerShell: Develop and manage automation solutions to improve efficiency and reliability.
• SQL Server Expertise: Provide in-depth technical expertise in SQL Server, including T-SQL scripting, performance tuning, and administrative automation.
• Infrastructure Support & Maintenance: Support both on-premise and public cloud hosting environments, with a focus on Windows and SQL workloads.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business and application teams, translating technical challenges into actionable solutions.
• Security & Compliance: Maintain a security-first approach to all aspects of platform engineering.
• Third-Party Support: Work with managed service providers (MSPs) and external partners to deliver complex technical solutions.
• Project Work: Be involved in a variety of platform engineering projects, including infrastructure modernization, automation, and system enhancements.
• Microsoft Enterprise Environment experience is a must.
• Strong SQL Server experience, including administrative automation and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and infrastructure management.
• Extensive automation experience, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools.
• Operational experience in Windows Server & SQL Server environments.
• Experience working with enterprise-level IT infrastructure and application hosting.
• Experience engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a security-conscious mindset.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, complex environments.

Desirable Skills (Not Essential, Training Provided)

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP (training and exposure available).
• Experience with RDS in AWS.
• Knowledge of orchestration and automation tools like Puppet, Ansible, or Terraform.
• Experience working with Linux workloads.
• Exposure to Azure VMware Solution (AVS).
• Understanding of Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Experience using Jira and LogicMonitor.
