Salary - From £45,000/£55,000 pro rata, plus discretionary bonus dependent on qualifications and experience

Role

BPS Chartered Surveyors are seeking a new almost qualified or recently qualified (up to 5 years PQE) surveyor with applicable property experience who can make an immediate contribution to the team.

We are looking for an applicant who qualified on the Commercial Property, Valuation or Planning and Development pathways, who is eligible for Registered Valuer status. Full support will be offered to complete the RICS APC or achieve Registered Valuer status if required; the opportunity to move quickly to a more senior role is available.

We can offer part time or flexible hours to the right candidate and we are able to support a surveyor looking to re-enter the workforce to relaunch their career.

We are a busy and expanding practice specialising in valuation and planning viability work for a wide range of public sector clients and we are looking for a candidate with an interest in growing with the business over the longer term. We advise on properties across London, the south of England and the Midlands and are instructed on some of the largest development schemes in the UK.

Successful applicants can expect themselves to be involved in:

  • Valuations of commercial, community and residential property
  • Assessing scheme viability of major developments and advising clients in respect of negotiations concerning planning obligations
  • Advising Councillors and Planning Officers through the committee process
  • Negotiating S106 Agreements and other legal documents
  • Preparing evidence for Public Inquiries, Planning Appeals and for Examinations in Public
  • Providing development, procurement and feasibility advice
  • Preparing and testing viability evidence in support of the development of Local Plans, infrastructure and affordable housing policies
  • Assisting with a range of services including development advisory work and Red Book valuations as well as training and client CPD lectures

The successful candidate would ideally have experience or interest in valuation and planning though training would be provided. There are significant opportunities to gain wide experience with excellent career progression opportunities dependent on performance.

Person requirements

  • Almost qualified or recently qualified (up to 5 years PQE) surveyor with valuation background
  • Strong written communication skills, the ability to explain and support technical arguments in plain English
  • Good attention to detail Confident personality, ability to verbally communicate position
  • Numerate and familiar with valuation and development appraisal theory
  • Competent with Microsoft Office
  • Competent with Argus Developer (optional)

Salary

From £45,000/£55,000 plus discretionary bonus dependent on qualifications and experience
