Job summary

Barnsley Council is seeking highly motivated valuation surveyors to join our Estates team to support the New Build and Acquisition programme within the Housing Revenue Account portfolio, acquiring residential properties and assisting in developing Council land for new homes.

You will inspect properties, produce valuations and negotiate sale terms for residential properties, while providing strategic advice on site due diligence, development terms and residual appraisals to assess land value and

Qualifications

• Good technical and communication skills with significant experience in the residential sector.
• Ability to conduct inspections, produce valuations and undertake negotiations, agreeing sale terms for residential properties.
• Experience working with development partners to derisk sites and understand the residential market.

Responsibilities

• Support the Council's New Build and Acquisition programme within the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) portfolio to acquire residential to increase the Council's affordable stock and support development of new build properties on Council land.
• Conduct inspections, produce valuations and undertake negotiations, agreeing sale terms for individual/bulk residential properties.
• Provide strategic residential property advice, undertake site due diligence, prepare terms for site sale/development and complete/review residual development appraisals to assess land value and negotiate terms through to sale.
• Support management of the Council's land and property portfolio, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and contribute to the Asset Management Plan and MTFP targets.
