Job summary

Gofal Cymru Care Ltd is seeking a Senior Support Worker in Cardiff to deliver compassionate, person‑centred care to children and young people with complex needs. The role includes leading shifts, guiding staff practice, and ensuring care plans and safeguarding standards are upheld.

You will work on a rota, supervise junior staff, and promote safety and independence while developing life skills and engagement in home and community settings. Various shifts available.

Qualifications

• Willing to work towards QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
• Experience in residential/supported living and supporting learning disabilities or mental health.
• Caring, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships.
• Good communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
• Able to follow care plans and keep accurate records.
• Flexible to work shifts (incl. weekends, sleep-ins).
• Welsh language skills (desirable).
• Full UK driving licence (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Assisting individuals with personal care needs (washing, toileting, dressing, mobility).
• Help individuals make choices and engage in activities at home and in the community.
• Advocate for wellbeing, safety, and quality of life of service users.
• Support with domestic tasks and meal planning/cooking.
• Administer medication following training and company procedures.
• Ensure health & safety checks and record-keeping are maintained.
• Follow care plans, safeguarding standards and company policies.
• Provide leadership as Shift Leader and assist in staff development.
