Job summary

Keys Group in Peterborough is seeking a Senior Support Worker for a Children’s Home, 39 hours per week with long shifts, including weekends and sleep-ins. You’ll lead a team delivering high-quality care to children with complex needs, backed by strong safeguarding knowledge and a full UK driving licence.

You will mentor staff, work with professionals, contribute to care planning and ensure a safe, therapeutic home environment, with ongoing opportunities for qualifications and career progression.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a Residential Children's home.
• NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare.
• Related knowledge of Ofsted legislation and safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of quality care services in the home.
• Mentoring of staff and development of the team.
• Lead the team in daily shift management and care planning.
• Provide therapeutic care and support to individual children to achieve best outcomes.
• Act as a positive role model and build trusting relationships with children.

What do you need?

• A minimum of 1 year experience working within a Residential Childrens home.
• NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare.
• Related knowledge of Ofsted legislation and safeguarding procedures.
• Highly driven, proactive and enthusiastic.
• A strong people manager with a hands on approach.
• Full driving licence is essential.
• You need to be able to work flexibly in caring for the children. This will include working shifts and sleep-ins
• You will be part of a caring team that provides a safe and loving home for children and young people, led and supported by a Service Manager and Deputy Manager.
• Responsible for delivery of quality care services, as well as the strategic planning for developments within the home and day to day shift management matters.
• Leading your team along with other professionals, you will provide the therapeutic care and support needed for each individual child focused on obtaining the best outcomes.
• Act as a positive role model to colleagues and children to meet their everyday living needs, developing trusting relationships that create recovery, growth and lasting change.
• Responsible for mentoring of staff and accessing of appropriate services to support the childcare practices within the home.
