Job summary

CPL UK is recruiting an experienced Senior Support Worker for a small, well-established children's residential home in Cumbria. You will lead shifts, support the care team and act as a positive role model for young people aged 8 to 17 in a safe, nurturing environment.

You’ll work with the Registered Manager to deliver high-quality, child-centred care in line with Ofsted standards. Salary £30,000 per annum plus sleep-in payments, with opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards it).
• At least 1 year of experience in a children's residential setting, ideally EBD.
• Full UK driving licence preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts and delegate tasks to support workers.
• Build trusting relationships with young people.
• Support education, health, independence and wellbeing.
• Use de-escalation and therapeutic approaches to manage behaviour.
• Complete accurate records, daily logs and incident reports.
• Contribute to care plans, risk assessments and key working.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff.
• Liaise with social workers, schools, families and professionals.

About the role

As Senior Support Worker, you'll lead shifts, support and guide the care team, and act as a positive role model for the young people in your care. You'll work closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to deliver high-quality, child-centred care in line with Ofsted standards.

• Using de-escalation and therapeutic approaches to manage behaviour

• Liaising with social workers, schools, families and other professionals

About you

• At least 1 year's experience in a children's residential setting, ideally EBD


• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards it)


• Confident leading a shift and supporting a team


• Strong understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted regulations


• Resilient, patient and committed to making a difference


• Full UK driving licence preferred


• Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain one)
