Senior Residential Care Worker
Location: Worksop
Salary: £27033.24 - £37,557
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Shifts: Includes evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins

I am recruiting on behalf of a well-established provider of care services for children and young people. This organisation is dedicated to delivering trauma-informed, therapeutic residential care to some of the most vulnerable young people in society.

We are currently seeking an experienced and confident Senior Residential Care Worker to help lead a dedicated team in delivering high-quality, child-centred care in a nurturing residential environment.

The Role:
As a Senior Residential Care Worker, you will play a key leadership role within the home, supporting the management team and acting as a role model for junior staff. You will help create a safe, supportive setting where children can feel secure, understood, and empowered to move forward with their lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, support, and supervision to care staff.

  • Act as a lead practitioner during shifts, ensuring consistent high standards of care.

  • Build trusting relationships with children and help manage their emotional and behavioural needs.

  • Liaise effectively with families, professionals, and external agencies.

  • Contribute to the development and review of care plans and risk assessments.

  • Promote a culture of reflective practice, emotional safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are adhered to at all times.

About You:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (essential).

  • Minimum 18 months' experience working with children in a residential care setting.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

  • A sound understanding of the impact of trauma on children's behaviour and development.

  • Knowledge of relevant childcare legislation and safeguarding practices.

  • Full UK driving licence or access to a driver for work purposes.

  • Ability to work flexibly, including unsociable hours and participating in the on-call rota.

Desirable:

  • Experience supervising or leading staff in a care setting.

  • Understanding of therapeutic approaches to working with children.

  • Awareness of budgetary and resource management in a care environment.
