The opportunity:

You will join a team that is dedicated to the Markel Wholesale Claims IT team who ensure IT services are aligned to the needs of the business, drive cost efficiency and contribute to the long-term success of the organization.

We are looking for a highly competent and motivated technical individual for this role, to join a talented and experienced team.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Investigate, triage, and manage incidents and requests
2. Agree and clearly communicate business priorities and outcomes to all stakeholders
3. Work on-call with peers on bridge calls to support the major incident and rollout processes
4. Proactively lead initiatives, including problem resolution, change and release activities
5. Support development, and release of project deliverables, ensuring the correct governance is applied
6. Write scripts in one or more scripting languages to resolve issues, and automate
7. Ensure controls and auditability are maintained on all support and development activities
8. Contribute to the development and maintenance of team Procedures, Policies, and documentation
9. Coordinate 3rd party suppliers and IT partners, to resolve business issues and team activities
10. Thorough and timely communication with Business and wider Information Technology teams
11. Support identification of IT & Business risks and propose mitigating actions
12. Complete and maintain detailed service documentation, record incident and support activity in approved IT tools
13. Complete time tracking records in a timely manner

Our must-haves:

1. Experience of scripting development, ideally with hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL
2. Guidewire support experience (ClaimCenter preferred)
3. Experience of support for London market messaging
4. A track record of working collaboratively, demonstrating integrity, equality, mutual respect, and celebrating diversity
5. Qualification or equivalent experience in Computer Science or information Systems
6. Working knowledge of the ITIL service management lifecycle
7. An understanding of the end-to-end project lifecycle
8. Experience supporting key business applications within a financial systems business
9. Experience working in a regulated industry, ideally SOX or Solvency II
10. Experience of working in a business facing role using strong people skills and collaborative approach
11. Hands-on experience with system monitoring tools such as LogicMonitor, Redgate Monitor or similar.
