Job summary

RTL Group Ltd is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead a major substation project in Thurso, delivering civil works within the renewable energy sector. You will oversee day-to-day on-site operations, drive safety performance, and coordinate multiple contractors to meet programme and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Manager on substations or large infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and CDM requirements.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and ensure quality.
• Excellent leadership and contractor management skills.
• SMSTS/SSSTS and First Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage all on-site activities for the substation project, ensuring safety and on-time delivery.
• Lead site inductions, daily briefings, and toolbox talks.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, plant and materials.
• Monitor progress against programme and report to Project Manager.
• Ensure works comply with CDM regulations and client standards.
• Maintain site documentation: permits, RAMS, inspections, progress records.
• Liaise with engineering, commissioning and environmental teams.
• Address site issues to minimise downtime.
• Ensure quality control and adherence to drawings and specs.
• Represent the project during site audits and client visits.
