Job summary

SSEN Transmission in Scotland is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to join our Offshore AC Project Engineering team and deliver Island projects to connect HVDC systems. You will review 33kV to 400kV designs, drive standard setting, and mentor Project Engineers while coordinating with external consultants within a large supply chain.

This permanent role offers flexible first options and a base in Glasgow with a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience managing design development for transmission projects.
• Excellent understanding of relevant standards and CDM implications.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve substation designs from 33kV to 400kV across development phases.
• Promote best practices and recommend improvements in specifications and technology options.
• Lead peer reviews and support other projects through key issue resolution.
• Mentor Project Engineers and coordinate with Engineering Managers and external contractors.
• Advise on performance of external engineering consultants and supply chain partners.
