Role: Senior AC Substation Design Specialist
Location: Manchester Area, England
Overview: Responsible for providing auxiliary power designs, solutions, and technical input to contracts across the business area. Deliver departmental work packages on time and within budget.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Produce LVAC, LVDC, and UPS single line diagrams for onshore and offshore substations up to 400kV associated with LTS.
- Create technical specifications for LVAC, LVDC, and UPS systems for onshore and offshore substations up to 400kV.
- Design protection and control schemes for LVAC, LVDC, and UPS equipment related to LTS.
- Conduct LVAC coordination studies and cable sizing calculations using Amtech software; produce comprehensive reports.
- Perform LVDC coordination studies and cable sizing calculations; generate complete study reports.
- Review supplier schematic diagrams and related documentation for LVAC, LVDC, and UPS.
- Coordinate LVAC, LVDC, and UPS alarms, signals, and control commands to/from SCADA via protection schematics and control logic.
- Coordinate layout location and dimensions of LVAC, LVDC, and UPS within primary layout drawings.
- Develop sizing documents for auxiliary transformers, DG sets, and DC battery systems.
- Draft technical specifications for auxiliary transformers, ensuring alignment with physical dimensions and layout considerations.
- Create engineering and test specifications for new and existing solutions.
- Participate in internal and external design reviews, providing technical input.
- Prepare auxiliary power compliance matrices, design intent documents, and functional design specifications.
- Contribute to design risk assessments, ensuring risks and HAZIDS are identified, controlled, and compliant with health and safety legislation.

Requirements:
- Approximately 7 years of design experience in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry.
- Knowledge of British and UK standards.

- Experience with battery and UPS systems.
- Proficiency in cable sizing using Amtech software, and knowledge of MCB and fuse coordination.
