Senior Structural Engineer - Steel, Leeds, West Yorkshire

This role is with a long-established, highly respected structural steelwork contractor based in West Yorkshire, with over 85 years of industry experience. The company specializes in designing, fabricating, and installing bespoke steel structures across various sectors including industrial, commercial, retail, and education.

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Structural Engineer with a strong background in steelwork design and delivery. The successful candidate will work on complex projects within a collaborative team that values quality, engineering excellence, and long-term client relationships. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a steelwork-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead design and coordination of bespoke steel structures for various projects
• Apply Eurocodes and British Standards for structural steel design
• Collaborate with in-house design and detailing teams
• Review and approve technical drawings, calculations, and documentation
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and clients throughout projects
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring quality and technical standards
• Mentor junior engineers as appropriate
• Coordinate with fabrication and site teams to ensure design integrity during manufacturing and installation

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience in structural or civil engineering
• Strong background in structural steelwork design, preferably with a steel contractor or fabricator
• Familiarity with software such as Tekla Structural Designer, MasterSeries, or similar
• Knowledge of Eurocode 3 and BS5950
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• Commercial awareness and understanding of project financials
• Positive, team-oriented attitude
