Job summary

AWD Online is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our professional engineering team in Wombwell, Barnsley, South Yorkshire. You will contribute to safe, efficient and buildable structural designs across a varied project portfolio.

The role requires robust structural mechanics knowledge, excellent design calculation capability and experience with Tekla Structural Designer, Fastrak, Masterframe/STAAD PRO and Masterseries.

Qualifications

• Robust knowledge of structural mechanics and engineering principles.
• Excellent design calculation capability.
• Previous experience in a structural design role.
• Experience using relevant structural design software such as Tekla Structural Designer (Fastrak Building Designer), Fastrak Portal Frame, Masterframe / STAAD PRO and Masterseries Connections.

Responsibilities

• Client and Team Collaboration: Work closely with clients, colleagues and other professionals using construction plans, drawings and specifications.
• Design Development: Develop structural design ideas using current industry software.
• Structural Analysis: Apply loadings and calculate stresses and load paths through different parts of structures.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure projects meet legal guidelines, environmental directives and health and safety requirements.
• Tender Support: Prepare bids for tenders.
• Quality Standards: Maintain quality service by following company standards.
• Progress Reporting: Provide progress reports to clients and senior managers while contributing to wider team objectives.
• Professional Development: Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, networks and professional societies.
