Job summary

Bristol Structural Consultancy is seeking a Structural Engineer or Senior Structural Engineer to join their team in Bristol. The role suits an individual with a minimum of 4 years post-graduate experience and a background in building structures.

You will design and deliver a variety of building structures, undertake structural surveys and inspections, and manage your own projects with support from the team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years post-graduate structural engineering experience
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline
• Experience designing a variety of building structures across materials and project types
• Good knowledge of structural design using steel, concrete, masonry and timber
• Experience working within a UK structural or civil engineering consultancy
• Knowledge of relevant structural design standards and Building Regulations
• Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and architects
• Experience undertaking structural surveys and defect diagnosis is beneficial
• Chartered status with IStructE or ICE advantageous (candidates pursuing chartership welcomed)

Responsibilities

• Producing structural calculations, designs and drawings for a range of building structures
• Structural design using steel, concrete, masonry and timber
• Working on architecturally led residential, commercial and other building projects
• Collaborating with architects, clients and other professionals
• Undertaking structural surveys of domestic and residential properties
• Investigating structural defects including cracking, settlement and subsidence
• Preparing technical reports and recommendations after site inspections
• Managing your own projects and workload with team support
• Mentoring junior engineers where appropriate
