Salary

Up to £56,000 (depending on experience)

Overview

Senior Engineers form the core of the engineering department and are responsible for the day-to-day development of designs throughout the design process.

The Senior Engineer role is primarily hands-on, involving analysis and design within the Civil and Structural department, often collaborating with other engineering disciplines in the project team.

The position also includes shared managerial responsibilities for Graduates, Apprentices, and/or Designers as needed.

Key Accountabilities

1. Preparation of design documentation such as technical specifications, risk assessments, method statements, technical files, and other safety-related documentation.
2. Review and development of optioneering studies.
3. Design development to meet technical specifications.
4. Supporting design calculations to substantiate designs.
5. Reviewing bespoke design calculations.
6. Preparation of Basis of Design documents, substantiation reports, and hands-on analysis.
7. Contributing to design reviews.
8. Preparation of technical specifications and safety documentation.

Duties and Requirements

1. Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals, including safety legislation and regulations.
2. Experience in designing reinforced concrete and structural steel structures.
3. Bridge design experience in accordance with Eurocode standards.
4. Proficiency in structural analysis software such as STAAD and Autodesk ROBOT.
5. Proven competence in a design delivery role.
6. Ability to meet tight deadlines.
7. Excellent teamwork, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
8. Engineering qualification such as HNC, HND, or Degree.
9. Nuclear or highly regulated industry experience.
10. Experience in supervision or mentoring.
