Job description

Senior Structural Engineer - required for our rapidly expanding client to work across Scotland, based in or around Glasgow with a mix of site visits and home working. The Senior Structural Engineer will work for a company operating across the UK, specializing in Structural Inspections supported by a Structural Design team. This role uniquely combines Surveying and Design responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structural design and surveys, joining a growing, dynamic business. This opportunity is suited for a Senior Structural Engineer passionate about structural engineering and new technologies, aiming to lead the regional design team both technically and operationally. The company will support the engineer to become chartered if not already, and to advance their career as the company expands.

Responsibilities:

1. Inspect various buildings and structures, preparing digital reports
2. Draft specifications for remedial works
3. Provide technical support for Buildings Insurance claims, including subsidence, fire, and storm damage
4. Conduct site visits for residential and commercial projects using digital technology
5. Manage small to medium design projects
6. Prepare design calculations for insurance claims related to damage
7. Report progress to the Managing Director and contribute to business development

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree (1st class or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Several years' experience in structural surveys and design
• Proficiency in IT systems and software such as AutoCAD and TEDDS
• Good understanding of building materials and structures (steel, masonry, concrete, timber)
• Membership of MICE or MIStructE, or close to achieving
• Valid UK driving license and car owner, able to travel to sites
