Job Description
Calibre Search is working alongside a growing, privately owned consultancy in the North East that consistently delivers a variety of schemes throughout the UK. Due to a healthy forward workload, they are currently looking to appoint a Senior level Structural Engineer at either Principal or Associate level to help grow the business and build a team around.
Their experienced team helps deliver the entire life cycle of a scheme, from Feasibility/Appraisal stage to Planning stage, Detailed Design stage, and through to Construction Completion, ongoing maintenance, and operation. The team has extensive engineering and practical experience across sectors including Residential, Commercial/Retail, Industrial, Student Accommodation, Sport & Leisure, Education, and Heritage.
The role requires managing projects, providing support, mentoring, and guidance to less experienced colleagues, taking initiative, and managing your own workload and deadlines.
You will review documents, designs, and drawings prepared by the team to ensure high quality and compliance with standards, industry best practices, contractual obligations, and client expectations.
With a minimum of seven years of UK industry experience, you should be able to act as a technical lead on projects of various sizes. You will liaise with and lead design team members to achieve coordinated design solutions that meet client objectives. Responsibilities include structural assessments and inspections of properties in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber, as well as analysis and design using software such as Tekla Structural Designer and FastTrack Building Designer. You will prepare high-quality technical reports, including structural surveys, and ensure consistency and quality of technical outputs.
As a Chartered or near-Chartered Engineer, you will have diverse experience in common construction types and be familiar with Eurocodes.
Excellent report writing, communication, and numerical skills are essential, alongside experience in structural analysis, design, and software.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad portfolio of projects within a friendly and professional team committed to engineering excellence and innovation.
The package includes a competitive salary, flexible benefits, training opportunities, professional fee reimbursement, contributory pension, health care plan, life insurance, travel loan scheme, additional leave options, and a staff loyalty bonus. A full UK driver’s license is required.
