Senior Structural Design Engineer

RPS is currently seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join our Structures Team.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple sectors, including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, energy, and more. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, leveraging expertise across industries and disciplines. We help clients harmonise design drivers through engineering, architecture, and development services.

What you’ll be doing: This role offers an opportunity for career progression as a Senior Structural Engineer within our reputable industry-leading team with extensive expertise across the built environment.

Duties Include:

• Assist Associate Director / Director in managing the structural engineering team
• Manage projects and project teams independently
• Take financial responsibility for your projects
• Prepare fee quotations and handle invoicing
• Manage staff and consultants
• Develop the engineering and technical team
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders and clients
• Conduct site visits, structural surveys, investigations, and repair schemes for issues from fires to foundation problems

Who we’re looking for: Ideally, you will have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, be working towards or already achieved chartership with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent, or be progressing towards it.

Additionally, you will:

• Be experienced in designing foundations, masonry, concrete, steel, and timber structures to eurocodes
• Have experience in the residential market, including traditional and framed construction
• Possess commercial awareness, including financial management, client development, and project appointment processes
• Be experienced in structural investigations of low-rise residential, medium-rise residential, and commercial properties
• Preferably, have experience related to the ‘Building Safety Act’
• Be familiar with Tekla software (Tekla Designer and Tedds) and ideally with AutoCAD/Revit
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills and previous management experience
• Be decisive, motivated, proactive, autonomous, and innovative
