Job summary

Sellick Partnership is recruiting a Senior Strategic Planning Officer to join a local authority’s Planning Policy team on a 6-month interim contract. The role focuses on delivering a major strategic growth site within an emerging Local Plan, collaborating with developers, landowners and stakeholders to secure delivery.

Ideal candidates will be RTPI-qualified with experience in strategic planning, plan-making and large-scale residential developments.

Qualifications

• RTPI membership or eligibility desirable.
• Experience in Planning Policy, Strategic Planning, Development Management, or similar planning environment.
• Knowledge of plan-making process and delivery of strategic site allocations.
• Experience on large-scale residential, mixed-use or growth developments.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of a major strategic housing allocation as part of an emerging Local Plan.
• Act as liaison between Council, developers, consultants, landowners and statutory consultees.
• Monitor site progress and identify opportunities to accelerate delivery and overcome barriers.
• Coordinate infrastructure, housing growth and place-making initiatives associated with strategic development.
• Prepare reports, briefing notes and recommendations for senior officers and elected members.
• Attend stakeholder meetings, workshops and site visits as required.
• Provide professional planning advice relating to strategic sites and growth proposals.
• Contribute to successful implementation of planning policy and wider corporate growth objectives.
