Job summary

5 Star Recruitment is seeking a Stores/Warehouse operative based near Preston to manage main stores and surrounding depots in Lancashire. You will place orders by phone and email, receive deliveries, stock items, and support workshops with parts.

Key tasks include stocking, stock control, liaising with technicians, and ensuring safe, efficient operations. A forklift license and a valid UK driving license are preferred; NVQ in stores is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE standard with passes in English and Maths.
  • Full UK valid driver’s license or working towards within 12 months.
  • Forklift truck license or willing to train for one.

Responsibilities

  • Order stock and parts via phone and email.
  • Receive and book in goods; rotate stock.
  • Unload/load vehicles using MH equipment and forklift.
  • Assist technicians and supervisors with parts and information from suppliers.
  • Log tooling and maintain stock records.

Job description

The purpose of this position is to operate and maintain the main fleet stores and the surrounding depots located within Lancashire. Primarily based at Bamber Bridge Preston but providing support to outlying depots located in Lancashire.

The stores role's primary functions consist of parts and stock ordering via telephone and email, receiving and booking in of goods, stock rotation, identifying and locating of stock in the stores. Dealing with account queries from depots, suppliers, and internal accounts. Unload/load vehicles of goods and parts using MH equipment and forklift truck.

Speak with Technicians and supervisors with regards to parts ordering and obtaining technical information from suppliers and suppling tools from stock. Logging of tooling issued to workshop and log tools back into stock.

Covering aspects of colleague's and manager's job roles during periods of absence.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities
  • Obtaining spare parts at the best price from suppliers
  • Accepting parts deliveries and checking off stock against orders placed Issuing stock to jobs and remedying problem issues
  • Stock taking of parts Provide input and feedback into day-to-day stores operations and stores issues.
  • Liaise with Technicians and supervisors, keeping them updated on parts availability and progress.
  • Book waste items for collection when needed
  • Participate in teams calls when requested/needed Stores/ work area housekeeping ensuring are clean work area at all times
  • Ability and willingness to be a flexible, pro-active and effective team member and work under limited supervision
  • Undertaking duties in relation to building security, health and safety- including opening and closing routines and key holding
  • Covering aspects of colleague's and manager's job roles during periods of absence

Experience
  • Previous relevant stores experience or the ability to
    demonstrate the competence to carry out the jobD A/I
  • Stores experience covering the following:
    checking deliveries and putting stock away, goods receipting,
    stock transfers, stock issuing, stock checking of parts, creatingand placing purchase orders, collecting/ delivering parts,Setting up new part numbersD A/I
  • Dealing with invoice/account queries, setting up new suppliers D A/I Excellent telephone manner and use of email for ordering parts D A/I
  • Experience of computer systems and their application In stores/parts Operations D A/I Good ICT skills (using Microsoft office programs) D A/I
  • Ability to lift products to 20kg D A/I Awareness of health and safety at work D A/I
  • Flexible in your approach to starting early and finishing late and working overtime D A/I
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to communicate efficiently, good telephone manner E A/I
  • Ability to work as member of a team E A/I

  • Knowledge of car, commercial, plant and fire equipment spares D A/I
