Job description

Our Story

Founded in 1994 by Chrissie Rucker, The White Company was created to bring beautifully designed, timeless products into everyday living. Built on a commitment to simplicity, quality, and thoughtful detail, we believe exceptional service is as important as exceptional product. Today, our stores and digital channels bring this vision to life through calm, inspiring spaces and teams who care deeply about our customers and brand.

Our Role

As a Senior Store Manager, you lead one of our larger, more complex, or higher-profile stores and act as a trusted partner to the Area Manager. You hold accountability for exceptional performance in your store while also influencing standards, capability, and culture beyond it.

This role represents progression from leading a single store to influencing beyond it. You balance strong operational control with strategic leadership presence, setting standards for others, supporting the wider area, and acting as a role model for Store Managers and future leaders.

Customer and Brand Experience

  • Set flagship-level expectations for customer experience and brand standards.

  • Ensure the store delivers a consistently exceptional and inspiring customer journey.

  • Use customer insight, service data, and feedback to identify risks and opportunities at scale.

  • Act as a senior brand ambassador, representing The White Company both in-store and externally.

  • Support Store Managers in protecting and elevating customer experience across their businesses.

People and Culture: Leading the Team

  • Lead and develop a high-performing leadership team through clear expectations, coaching, recognition, and accountability

  • Mentor and support Store Managers within the wider area, sharing best practice and supporting onboarding and development.

  • Build strong succession plans and develop future leaders for the wider business.

  • Shape a culture of accountability, warmth, and continuous improvement.

  • Support the Area Manager in embedding leadership behaviours and ways of working.

  • Manage complex people matters with confidence, fairness, and consistency.

Operational and Commercial Excellence: Driving Performance

  • Deliver strong and sustainable performance in a high-volume or complex store environment.

  • Analyse KPIs, trading trends, and P&L drivers to identify opportunities and risks beyond a single trading week.

  • Identify and act on local opportunities to grow the customer base, strengthen data capture, and elevate brand presence.

  • Influence commercial performance through insight, coaching, and shared best practice.

  • Lead the planning and execution of peak trading periods at scale.

  • Ensure flagship-level standards across visual merchandising, presentation, and operational excellence.

  • Balance commercial ambition with brand integrity and customer experience.

  • Actively contribute to the wider area team, supporting initiatives, collaboration, and performance improvement.

About You

  • Proven experience leading a high-volume or complex retail store.

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence beyond your own business.

  • Commercially sharp, with confidence interpreting data and P&L performance.

  • An excellent communicator who builds trust and credibility at senior level.

  • Resilient, agile, and comfortable managing complexity.

  • A genuine passion for The White Company brand, with a strong commitment to protecting and bringing our values, aesthetic, and customer experience to life.

How You Can Grow

As a Senior Store Manager, you are building the bridge between store and flagship leadership, strengthening your readiness for a Deputy General Manager role.

You will develop:

  • People Leadership – Leading leaders at scale, building succession and capability across stores.

  • Operational Confidence – Managing complexity, risk, and standards in high-impact environments.

  • Commercial Insight – Shaping strategy through trend analysis, influencing area performance and long-term growth
