Job summary

FJ Booth Construction Ltd in Northallerton, United Kingdom, is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead the estimating function for steelwork projects, producing accurate and competitive tenders and supporting business development.

You will work closely with senior management, project teams and suppliers to ensure compliant submissions, manage take-offs, and drive value engineering while maintaining ISO and Achilles/Constructionline submissions.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge of steel fabrication and erection processes.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
• Commercial awareness and risk management capability.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Excel.
• Leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Experience with tenders and deadlines management.
• Experience with main contractors and design teams.
• Knowledge of UK construction standards and regulations.
• Experience managing ISO accreditation, Achilles, Constructionline submissions.
• Background in steel fabrication, engineering, or construction management.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of cost estimates for steelwork projects.
• Review drawings, specs, and tender docs.
• Produce take-offs and material quantities.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to secure pricing.
• Identify commercial risks and value engineering opportunities.
• Prepare and submit tender documentation on deadlines.
• Lead PQQs and manage ISO, Achilles, Constructionline submissions.
• Support post-tender negotiations and handovers to delivery teams.
• Maintain estimating databases, rates, cost benchmarks.
