Job summary

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full-time Senior Staff Nurse for Woodview Inpatients. You will provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and oversee assessment, planning and monitoring of care for inpatients.

Applicants must be on-going NMC registration, with specialist qualifications in skills and development; you will utilise NICE guidance and contribute to clinical governance, audits and service improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure effective assessment, formulation, planning and monitoring of care for inpatient service users.
• Ensure all contacts with service users are recorded promptly and accurately and are of a high standard.
• Contribute to Clinical Governance activities such as surveys and audits to support service development.
• Deliver high-quality care in the right place at the right time, working with the MDT to meet patient needs.

• Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
• Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
• Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children's nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

We are looking for a full time Senior Staff Nurse to work within Woodview Inpatients. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, suitably qualified, experienced and forward thinking individual to join the teams at Woodview.

Inpatient wards / units are designed to meet the acute holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a recovery focussed environment.

This working environment is conducive to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder will support staff members in the assessment, planning and provision of care in line with national and local nursing and health and safety policy.

The post holder will exercise professional accountability and responsibility demonstrating use of professional skills, knowledge and expertise in the provision of high quality care.

There is an expectation that the post holder will utilise research audit and enquiry to lead improvements in care.

You must have proven clinical skills along with excellent communication skills, good knowledge and understanding of adult mental health and the needs of individuals. You will also need to have a working knowledge of the care programme approach, NICE guidance and enhanced risk assessment and the ability to explore issues relating to the impact of health and social needs on mental health and well-being.

Main duties of the job

To provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment formulation planning, monitoring of care given to inpatient service users.

To provide leadership to oversee and ensure all contacts with service users are recorded promptly and accurately and are of a high standard.
Provision of information and participate as requested, to assist service development and Clinical Governance requirements e.g. surveys, audits etc.

Providing nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensuring the effective assessment formulation planning and monitoring of care given to inpatient service users ensuring that inpatient service users are receiving high quality care, in the right place at the right time every time.
