Job summary

Priory Healthcare in the United Kingdom seeks a Nurse in Charge to lead the nursing shift, coordinate staff and prioritise patient care, ensuring the ward remains safe and well managed.

You will complete nursing assessments, develop and regularly review individualised care plans, and supervise junior staff, promoting a supportive, professional environment while upholding clinical governance and safeguarding standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the nursing shift as Nurse in Charge, coordinating staff, prioritising patient care and delegating duties to ensure the ward remains safe and well managed.
• Complete nursing assessments and develop, implement and regularly review individualised care plans, ensuring patients' physical and mental health needs, preferences and wishes are met.
• Supervise and support junior, agency and newly appointed colleagues, providing clinical guidance, supporting inductions and helping staff manage challenging behaviour and de-escalation.
• Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team, families and external professionals to monitor patient progress, address concerns and promote positive outcomes.
• Maintain high standards of clinical governance, including accurate patient records, incident reporting, medicines management, safeguarding and compliance with the Mental Capacity Act and Priory policies.
