Position Summary:

Utilizing standard engineering procedures for research and development, this role involves assignments related to research, design, development, support, or manufacturing of specific parts, processes, or components of products. The engineer independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria, making minor adaptations and modifications as needed. Operating under the general direction of a functional manager with moderate self-direction, the engineer focuses on one or more areas within the R&D Technology & Platform Group, particularly in Textiles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Apply advanced engineering and scientific principles to determine technical feasibility for challenging projects and solve complex customer problems using various technologies.
  2. Serve as a global project/technology leader; lead brainstorming sessions and secure buy-in from cross-functional partners.
  3. Act as an individual contributor, core team member, or technical lead for specific projects.
  4. Ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables according to approved schedules.
  5. Author documentation and participate in design control activities.
  6. Plan, perform, and prioritize complex tasks aligned with corporate goals.
  7. Analyze data, identify trends, and determine next steps, including trade-off analysis if necessary.
  8. Lead or develop new test methods, specifications, technical apparatus, software, and processes for complex components and functions.
  9. Identify product defects, recognize outliers, and document their impact.
  10. Communicate technical information effectively through documentation, presentations, and summaries, fostering collaboration.
  11. Provide technical expertise in two areas, emerging as a subject matter expert.
  12. Guide and mentor team members and cross-functional teams; provide technical support for CAPA and complaint investigations.
  13. Generate predictable schedules, understanding cross-functional dependencies.
  14. Recommend and lead implementation of process improvements.
  15. Contribute to a culture of innovation by generating novel concepts for products and enhancements.
  16. Ensure compliance with company quality, safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  17. Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Math, or related field with 11 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 9 years of experience.
  • At least 9 years of product development experience emphasizing engineering design and development.
  • Strong project management skills with proven success in delivering projects to expectations.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Experience with DFMEA and Design of Experiments.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, with excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring others and working in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.

Textile Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of textile science, design, and performance characteristics.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and meet requirements.
  • Experience managing textile projects from concept to commercialization.
  • Skills in textile process optimization, including weaving, knitting, non-woven production, and finishing techniques.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting textile equipment, and understanding testing methodologies.
