Job summary

Zencargo is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to shape the architecture of our cloud platform as traffic and AI workloads grow. The role blends 60% infrastructure engineering with 40% software development, delivering PoC work to long-running projects.

You will own solutions, collaborate with distributed teams, and drive outcomes that reduce manual effort and improve reliability. The position is fully remote with GMT overlap across the UK team.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering across at least one language, with ability to move between languages.
• Proven production ownership on cloud-based systems.
• Deep understanding of infrastructure as code, state, modules and validation.
• Kubernetes in production, including debugging under load.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation and delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
• Build and scale infrastructure for AI workloads, including cost and API reliability.
• Debug cluster performance, service-to-service traffic, and database performance under load.
• Own the IaC estate, manage drift, and set module standards.
• Advance the delivery pipeline with policy-as-code gates and auditable changes.
• Contribute to internal AI tooling and workflows to reduce toil.
• Engineer cost controls through right-sizing and capacity planning.
• Mentor peers via pairing and code reviews.
• Cover security and governance alongside platform work.
