Job Description:

The Senior Staff Applications Engineer will be responsible for the design, test, and marketing of customer application related tasks for new and existing products.

  • Clear and concise communication skills, verbal and written, are essential to this position.
  • Ability to multi-task between program management and product development.
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit analysis, with modelling and simulation tool experience (SIMPLIS, LTSPICE, SystemVerilog, etc.).
  • Experience with multi-phase regulator (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost), ADC, and ability to lead SOC Power Management IC development.
  • Experience and knowledge with automation utilizing Python or LabView is a plus.
  • Support customer applications and product development to support the sales of RENESAS Portable Power integrated circuits.
  • Provide input and help prototype new product definitions.
  • Hands-on experience with lab testing and measurement techniques of analog/power management circuits.
  • Experience with cross-team collaboration to drive and influence product planning and validation plans.
  • Direct contact with customers for creating design solutions and troubleshooting system design problems.
Qualifications:
  • BSEE or equivalent working experience.
  • 10+ years experience with power management applications in DC-DC, AC-DC, and SOC PMIC applications.
  • Strong knowledge of circuit design, power system design, and PC-based software.
  • Strong analog circuit design skills and digital hardware design skills.
  • Strong lab test and measurement skills required to characterize new products and design application circuit solutions.
  • Proficiency in writing simple non-production code in high-level languages such as C++, C#, Python.
  • Significant experience with layout of high-frequency DC-DC switching converters using Cadence or similar software.
  • Experience with serial communication protocols like I2C.
  • Good writing, technical drawing, and verbal communication skills for datasheets, lab reports, and application notes.
  • Proficient with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, spectrum/network analyzers, and other lab instruments, with NI LabView control.
  • Working knowledge of PCB layout, fabrication, and electronic assembly practices.
