Job summary

Fastly in London (Hybrid) is seeking an experienced Senior SRE focused on Networks to build and operate the global Edge Cloud Platform. You will address traffic incidents, lead edge-case resolutions, and contribute to automation and tooling for scalable reliability.

Ideal candidates bring deep knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, Anycast, Python, and monitoring with Grafana/Prometheus, plus experience with cloud providers and Linux. Collaborative, proactive engineers will thrive in this role.

Qualifications

• Experience with the protocols and practices that form the fabric of the global internet.
• Experience in automation and coding using languages like Python.
• Proficiency with Tier 1 ISPs, IXPs and cloud providers.
• Ability to analyze internet traffic patterns using flow-based tools.
• Experience with alerting, monitoring and visibility tools (Grafana/Prometheus/Splunk).
• Knowledge of cloud hosting solutions (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Understanding of Linux/Unix systems administration and network stack optimization.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and maintain the growing global network footprint of Fastly’s Edge Cloud Platform.
• Respond to significant traffic incidents and lead network incidents, resolving edge cases and failure scenarios with IP routing expertise (BGP).
• Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews and processes.
• Partner in the development of tools and automation systems to improve network operations.
• Innovate monitoring methods focused on end-user experience and preemptive issue resolution.
• Perform deep-dive of performance analytics and collaborate with partner teams to maintain a performant network.
• Advocate for network operational stability by guiding roadmaps with engineering teams.
• Mentor teammates on global routing complexities in an anycast environment.
