Job summary

Hyra is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) in Manchester to independently run and improve cloud services, owning defined services and SLOs. The role requires incident handling and mentoring junior engineers.

You will design and operate infrastructure as code, enhance CI/CD pipelines, perform capacity planning, and participate in on-call rotations across the stack. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in SRE, DevOps or infrastructure engineering running production services.
• Track record of improving reliability, and of responding to and learning from incidents.
• Experience mentoring or onboarding less experienced engineers.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Operates significant parts of the data management system and seeks guidance on complex decisions.
• Designs, builds and maintains infrastructure as code, automation and tooling.
• Improves CI/CD pipelines and release safety.
• Carries out capacity planning, performance analysis and resilience testing.
• Takes part in the on-call rota and troubleshoots independently across the stack.
• Reviews peers' code and contributes to design discussions.
