Lorien, on behalf of a fast-growing SAAS company, is seeking a Senior SQL Developer to lead from the front in a hybrid Glasgow or Edinburgh setting. The role emphasizes hands-on SQL, data querying and performance tuning, and experience with reconciliation tools as the team evolves the core platform.

You will mentor peers, drive technical projects with cross‑functional teams, and deliver robust testing (unit, end-to-end).

Qualifications

• Proven track record in Software Development in a similar role.
• Demonstrable strong SQL skills including querying, manipulation and performance tuning.
• Track record of developing reconciliation tools or working with reconciliation software.
• SSRS/Power BI/reporting skills.
• Strong skills across unit, end-to-end, and acceptance testing.
• Ability to drive technical projects and liaise with staff across disciplines.
• Willingness to mentor internal staff and liaise with external representatives.

Senior SQL Developer - Glasgow/Edinburgh (Hybrid) - Up to 56,000 depending on experience plus Bonus

Hybrid - 2 days in either Central Glasgow or Cenral Edinburgh office per week - whichever's best for you - or more often if you prefer

Lorien's client, a fast-growing, global-reaching SAAS company with a great reputation in their domain, are currently looking to hire a Senior Developer / Senior Software Engineer with strong SQL skills to join their team, help lead from the front, and play a key role in the next stages of the company's evolution a new version of their core platform and offerings.

This would be a nice fit for someone with proven hands-on SQL and SSRS expertise, a strong grasp of solution configuration, and a previous record of leading technical projects as a key part of a multidisciplinary function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take the reins as an SME for solution configurations, taking a leading role in the implementation and testing of low-code solutions, and scoping development/testing projects and timelines
• Deliver against overarching business objectives, from translating requirements into designs and solutions, and improving as you and the wider development team work
• Ensuring effective output from the team via mentoring/reviews and signoffs, as well as release validation, and liaising with the rest of the technical function and other teams to keep everyone up to date and align with business goals
• Ensuring Agile working and best practice is woven into the team, keeping aware of new trends and tech to improve as you go, contributing to standups and so on
