Job summary

CPS Group (UK) Limited, in partnership with a global IT consultancy, seeks an experienced Senior SQL Server DBA to support a key public sector client. The role is based in Cardiff on a hybrid model, requiring 1–2 days in the office weekly and involvement across development, test and production environments.

You will manage and optimise SQL Server databases, implement HA/DR with Always On, handle backups and security, work with Azure SQL, and automate tasks using PowerShell, collaborating closely

Qualifications

• Extensive SQL Server administration and performance tuning experience.
• Experience with Always On/HA-DR, backups and recovery.
• Knowledge of SQL Server security and encryption.
• Experience with Azure SQL.
• PowerShell scripting for automation.
• Windows Server/Active Directory knowledge.
• DevOps/CI-CD or IaC experience would be advantageous.
• SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance.

Responsibilities

CPS Group are working with a global IT consultancy who are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Server DBA to primarily support with a key public sector client.

This is an opportunity to work within a large, business-critical Microsoft environment, supporting SQL Server platforms across development, test and production.

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation you will be in the Cardiff office 1-2 times a week.

The Role

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience as a SQL Server DBA.
• Excellent SQL Server administration and performance tuning experience.

• PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Knowledge of Windows Server / Active Directory.
